SPACE PROBLEMS YESTERDAY'S PROBLEMS TODAY'S ...

"So I spread my wings to fly more and more daring works towards the desired goal, but the harsh reality was soon to pull me down to earth. For me home to study, my father had spent all his little ways: it was right that I began to think of myself. I will not say of moral anguish suffered by me at that time. An attempt to become an assistant at the Observatory of Torino (then occupied by only plana, vecchiocadente) was immediately dismissed. The same happened in other similar attempts to enter, somehow, in the University; The seats were all occupied. I felt in myself that I could not succeed as an engineer nor an architect nor practical, nor as a businessman: I fell into a black melancholy and began to doubt myself. "

between alienation and Ariane ...

"Many people deny even the possibility that there are intelligent beings in the universe, or even only animated, elsewhere than on Earth.
The famous geographer Carl Ritter used to begin his course of Geography at the University of Berlin, by demonstrating that all the planets between the Earth only has the necessary conditions for the development of organic life. It is true, however, and soon after went to show that all regions of the globe, northern Germany's development is the most noble and perfect quality in the human race.
In either case, his arguments were more or less the same weight. "

Things To Write On Engagement Card

Why Schiaparelli's maps of Mars were so diverse from those of other astronomers?

The reason is all in the method. Astronomers
earlier (Beer and Maedler, Kaiser, Lockyer, Proctor just to mention a few) had based their mapping " almost eclusivamente above drawings visibly .
Schiaparelli, however, apply to the study and mapping of Mars cartographic methods learned in his studies as an engineer. In fact, he wrote: "Wanting found on the topography of Mars accurate basis, you should follow the same principle, which is used for surveying land. A number of distinct points and easy to recognize, distributed with the greatest possible uniformity over the entire surface of the planet is taken as the basic network and you try to get the position with great accuracy. Among these lines then s'interpolano tracking and minute details of a simple estimation eye. "
Its maps are therefore much more precise, sharp and rich in detail. Here is a map of

Maedler and Beer (1841):
