Italian Name : Corinoli common Macerone, Macciaroni.

Description: biennial herbaceous plant , aromatic, tall m. 50-1.30. with drums upright
Antesi: January-May

Habitat: Wet places and shady spots, places stony, uncultivated, in the midst of ruins and rubble
Etymology: The name derives from the greek "smurna" or "smyrna" which means myrrh, due to the juice of the plant that smells of myrrh, according to Pliny. While the specific name " olusatrum " from the Latin " olus " = greens, good grass to eat, " atrum " = dark, above all, perhaps with reference to the dark roots, the stems, leaves and seeds, which are all edible parts of plants. The popular name
Macerone perhaps derives from the rubble as arises often in these places.

Properties and uses:
edible medicinal plant.

This plant grows now in the wild, was once grown in gardens for food and the intense aromatic scent of its leaves and its stems reminiscent of celery.
